The President of the Euro-Mediterranean Economists Association – EMEA Prof. Rym Ayadi participated at the T20 Panel Discussion: “International Coordination to Fight COVID-19”, of the TF:8 International Financial Architecture Webinar.
The panel included Kathrin Berensmann, Senior Researcher, German Development-Institute and Franco Bruni, Vice President, Institute for International Political Studies (ISPI), and it was moderated by Nabil Almubarak, Task Force 8 Lead Co-Chair; Chief Executive Officer, Saudi Credit Bureau – SIMAH.
Prof. Rym Ayadi, highlighted that “There is an urgent need to implement a public global mechanism to record old and new sovereign debt issues in order to boost global debt transparency and accountability in particular in Low and Middle Income Countries”. Also, that “Debt transparency can be strengthened through the introduction of a contractual clause that makes registration of new issues compulsory and contingent to subordination.”
Closing her intervention, she underlined that “Our proposal to the #G20 (G20 Saudi Arabia) is the establishment of an independent, open access, real-time tech-driven Debt Transparency Platform (DTP).
