The President of EMEA, Prof. Rym Ayadi participated in the conference “MSME finance during and after COVID-19 – Resilience and Innovation in the wake of COVID-19″, where she highlighted that “Enhancing digital solutions, accelerating the reduction of informality and fostering sustainability are among the pillars to boost access to finance to MSMEs”.

Prof. Rym Ayadi moderated the session “Current status/state of play: Impact of Covid-19 on MSME finance”. The panel of speakers included Nagla Bahr, Chair of Euro-Mediterranean Credit Guarantee Network (EMGN), Tarek El Kady, Co-Founder Med Angels, and Tarek Tawfik, Vice President BUSINESSMED and Vice President of the Federation of Egyptian Industries.

The conference was organized by the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) in cooperation with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), and took place on 23 June 2021. The conference objective was to raise awareness among stakeholders from the region on promising new approaches and initiatives with the potential to overcome the adverse effects of the pandemic on MSMEs ability to secure access to finance in the Mediterranean region.
