The President of the Euro-Mediterranean Economists Association – EMEA, Prof. Rym Ayadi, participated at the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) side event “Clean Industries and climate change”, of the UNFCCC Climate Change Conference #COP25, which took place in Madrid on 04.12.19
The event underlined the growing importance of clean industries, understanding that climate change has been, among other variables, the product of an extractive production mode that has not considered industry as part of an empathic coexistence with the environment.
Prof. Rym Ayadi highlighted that “without a decisive political action to which all stakeholders forcefully commit, avoiding the crash scenario of limiting the dire impacts of global warming of 1.5 degree will be a pure fallacy.
Cleaning the economy and respecting credible targets of decarbonisation must be monitored and penalties systems applied. Transition to the pure green economy can not go beyond a credible set timeline. Time for leniency must be over. ”
